This course provides you with foundational skills and knowledge to work in the aged, disability, home and community care industry. You’ll learn to work with individuals to support their independence and wellbeing, in their homes, in community or in an aged care environment.

CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support (Medication stream) program will provide you with nationally recognised entry level qualification with skills and knowledge to work as a personal care assistant.

In the classroom, through simulation and a practical work placements, you’ll learn to:
• provide physical and social individualised support
• maintain personal care and other activities of daily living
• provide palliative and dementia care
• work with diverse people and cultures
• implement safe work practices and infection control
• advocate for clients and legal aspects of working in a health related field

The qualification also provides a pathway for progression to a Diploma of Nursing or other health related qualifications.

The course is delivered over 38 weeks including 3 weeks (120 hrs.) of practical placement in a TLC Aged Care facility.

Practical sessions

The practical sessions are once a week from 9:00am to 4.30pm in one of our training centres located at TLC Aged Care homes. Practical training sessions will provide you with the opportunity to practice using equipment and resources used in the provision of support to residents in aged care, home and community and disability. Practical sessions also incorporate high fidelity simulation manikins which replicate real people and scenarios. This provides students with realistic hands-on experience before transitioning to practical placement at one of our TLC Aged Care facilities.

To be awarded CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support (Medication stream), you must successfully complete a total of eighteen (18) units of competency, consisting of:

    CHCPRP001 Develop and maintain networks and collaborative partnerships
    CHCAGE004 Implement interventions with older people at risk
    CHCAGE005 Provide support to people living with dementia
    CHCCCS011 Meet personal support needs
    CHCCCS023 Support independence and wellbeing
    CHCCCS025 Support relationships with carers and families
    CHCPAL001 Deliver care services using a palliative approach
    HLTAAP001 Recognise healthy body systems

  • three (3) elective units

    HLTHPS006 Assist clients with medication
    HLTAAP002 Confirm physical health status
    HLTAID003 Provide first aid

 

At the end of your program, you will be required to undertake 120 hours (3 weeks) practical work placement which will give you the opportunity to apply the knowledge you acquired in your studies into work based spaced practiced.

You will be under the supervision of a highly competent personal care worker while you are on placement. Your trainer will visit you on-site to observe and assess your practical competencies.

TLC Learning guarantees a work placement in one of our TLC Aged Care facilities for all students.

In order to achieve competency, you will be required to undertake and complete a range assessment tasks for each unit you have enrolled in. You must achieve a satisfactory result for each assessment task in order to achieve competency for a unit. Assessment of practical competency will take place in one of our TLC Aged Care training centres and in simulation.

The full-fee tuition rate includes Student Services and Amenities Fee and any material fees. CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support (Medication stream): $4,550 inc. GST 

Fees can be paid:

  • in full by credit card, bank cheque or EFT; or
  • by a payment plan of monthly instalments over the duration of the course.
  • The final payment is due 30 days prior the course completion.
